GACC Genealogist Pat Smith and Director Carol Schlueter will be guest speakers at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Avenue in Metairie. They will discuss “German-American Ancestry and Resources at the German-American Center.”
Carol Schlueter, director of the German American Cultural Center in Gretna, and Pat Smith, genealogist at the center, will discuss the museum and the many ways it can help those looking for information about ancestors, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie. Gretna’s roots came from the German families who have lived and worked there for more than 185 years. They established businesses, organized volunteer fire departments, ran dairy farms and served as civic leaders. The GACC honors the memories of those pioneers through community leadership and festivals that celebrate German foods and culture.
