Keep Up With Everything GACC

Starting with the Gretna Christmas Parade on December 1, to the annual Christmas Party on December 14, this month was busy for the GACC.

A men’s choir from Germany visited our museum and then gave a wonderful concert at Gretna’s St. Joseph Church.

October is German Heritage Month and the GACC celebrated with beer gardens — Gretna Fest and Oktoberfest.

October is festival month! The GACC will host beer gardens at Gretna Fest, Oct. 4-6, and our own Oktoberfest on Oct. 19.

Family history was a theme during August, with a talk at the Jefferson Parish Library and a library archivist speaking at the GACC meeting.

The Friends of the GACC are now meeting monthly at Salem Lutheran Church, due to renovations at our usual location. But our pretzels continue!

The GACC Friends will have a new location for the June 15 meeting — Schmid Hall at Salem Lutheran Church in Gretna, at 6 p.m.

May Pole dances and the Maifest Beer Garden are coming soon to the GACC in Gretna!

Irish colors filled the GACC meeting room in March 2024 in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

The 1963 and 1964 Queen of GRELA came from a Gretna family with German ancestry. A new museum exhibit honors her reign.

Baseball historian S. Derby GIsclair gave GACC members a fascinating look at Gretna’s baseball hero, Mel Ott, at our recent meeting.
